Wendy's restaurant franchise - About Us
About Us
History

Wendy’s Restaurant of Brandon, Manitoba was opened in 1987 by four Brandon entrepreneurs, C. Douglas Rungay, Ivan Gillis, Laurie Cousins and Larry Brown who saw an opportunity to provide Wendy’s quality food products to South-Western Manitoba. By 1995, Rungay, now the controlling shareholder had expanded the company by adding another location in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. The Yorkton location operated under company management for 10 years before being sold in 2005.

On January 1st, 2003 Rungay and Gillis, the only remaining shareholders sold the company to the Dan Trotter, Jeff Cristall and Kelly Glowa families. By May 2006 the Trotters and Cristalls were the only remaining shareholders, and it was their decision to reenter the Saskatchewan market by purchasing the two existing Wendy’s locations in Regina, Saskatchewan. The organization is still actively pursuing expansion in Western Canada.
